Description

The 16-Channel Pulse sequencer is a general-purpose logic board for synthesizing many discrete logic circuits for experiments. It uses a Xilinx Spartan-3A FPGA for logic synthesis. This design has not yet been prototyped but will be designed with a set of pre-packaged circuit examples that can be utilized for various projects. The 16 Digital outputs are designed for driving either other digital boards or for output pulse signals to drive output stages such as SSR boards. The board does not require a microcontroller to function but can be easily interfaced to one for increased flexibility.

The General design features are as follows:

  • 16 dedicated Pulse Channel logic outputs
  • Indicator LEDs and test points on each output to manually check sequencer outputs.
  • Two dedicated high speed clock inputs for driving the system and controlling the pulse width.
  • 1 14-pin header for general-purpose IO use
  • 2 2-pin headers for general-purpose IO use
  • 8 multiplexed 10-bit Analog to Digital converter inputs, which are interfaced directly to the FPGA.
